Brent Willett, CEcD is Executive Director of Iowa’s Cultivation Corridor, a public-private regional economic development and innovation acceleration organization focused on growing Central Iowa’s agriculture and bioscience sectors via the attraction of investment, jobs and talent to the state. The Corridor has offices in Ames and Des Moines, Iowa.
Prior to his role at the Cultivation Corridor, Willett served as President & CEO of the North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation, a regional economic development group in North Central Iowa headquartered in Mason City, Iowa. Preceding his role at the North Iowa Corridor, Willett was Executive Director of the Fairfield Economic Development Association and Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce in Fairfield, Iowa. He began his career at the Iowa Department of Economic Development, serving as Senior Prospect Manager.
A statewide economic development leader, Willett is responsible for the advancement of a bold agenda to markedly scale up Iowa’s competitiveness for new investment, talent and research opportunities in the agbioscience and agtechnology spaces through collaborative work with some of Iowa’s largest ag companies, state and federal agencies, local and regional economic development organizations and Iowa State University.
Willett currently serves on the Leadership Iowa Board of Governors; Iowa Chamber Alliance; Iowa State University Center for Industrial Research and Service Advisory Board; University of Northern Iowa Institute for Decision Making Advisory Board; Iowa Association of Business and Industry Economic Growth Committee; and in advisory positions with several organizations. He is a Past President of the Professional Developers of Iowa and past officer of the Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives Board of Directors. Willett is a 2009 Leadership Iowa, 2010 Institute for Organizational Management and 2011 University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute graduate. He is an International Economic Development Council Certified Economic Developer [CEcD].
A native of Davenport and graduate of the University of Iowa, Willett and his wife Emily live in Ankeny.
