Jon Thompson has worked in Information Technology for more than 14 years, roughly half of which have been as an entrepreneur servicing Mac-based business. The other half has been integrating mixed networks. During his time working with computers, he has lost data. He has seen others lose data. He’s seen over $10,000 spent on recovering lost data. He’s also seen businesses close their doors after a data loss. His professional passion is to never see a client suffer data loss.
Jon began his IT career for a small construction company in 1998. In 2000, he started Jon Thompson Consulting, which supported Macintosh computers in home users, small businesses, education, and enterprise. In 2005, he sold this business, and started managing computers at Great Ape Trust of Iowa. In 2009, he formed his current company, Evolve, and began supporting multiple business clients.
Growing up in Central Iowa, Jon also has a passion for seeing Iowa grow, and in his mind that means entrepreneurship. He’s an active member of the technology startup community, which conveniently is centered in downtown, where he has resided for the past six years with his wife, Sandra, and more recently, their four-year-old daughter Sydney. They enjoy everything that downtown has to offer, including the farmer’s market, Pappajohn Sculpture Park, taking in a concert at the 80/35 festival, and dining at downtown’s excellent restaurants.
