Rita Perea is celebrating her 15th year as president and CEO of Rita Perea Leadership Coaching and Consulting. She specializes in working with senior leaders and aspiring leaders to successfully establish executive presence, lead high-performing teams, engage employees, manage change and create work/life balance.
As an experienced executive herself, Rita brings a powerful blend of passion and professionalism to both private and public-sector organizations. As a leadership consultant, executive coach, talent development trainer and keynote speaker, she shares her 25-plus years of experience with senior leaders in a wide range of industries. Rita holds both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree. She also possesses a Specialist’s degree in Leadership from Drake University and is currently a Doctoral degree candidate. Additionally, Mrs. Perea is certified as a Work-life Balance Specialist, a Master Cognitive Coach, a Team Facilitation Trainer and a Spiritual Director. Combining executive training and spiritual direction she specializes in inspiring Business and Consciousness business practices, as well as creating mindfulness in the workplace.
Rita’s professional affiliations include membership in the NEXUS Executive Women’s Alliance, Iowa Women’s Foundation, National Speakers Association, the American Society of Training and Development, and the Society for Human Resource Managers. She practices servant leadership through providing training programs to the global organization, Spiritual Directors International. She is an active member of Rotary International and has served in numerous leadership positions at the local, national and international levels. Rita is a graduate of the Leadership Iowa program and served on their Board of Governors for two terms.
Perea currently serves on the board of the Friends of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and the Finance committee of the Iowa Women’s Foundation. She was also appointed by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad to serve on the State of Iowa Engineering Examiners Board. In 2016, she will become the first public, non-engineering member to lead that Board. She is a voting delegate to the National Council of Engineering Examiners, the international group charged with creating model law to govern Engineering practices around the globe.
Rita is also passionate about fostering leadership skills and community involvement amongst young professionals. She launched both a Rotary Club for Emerging Leaders and The Founders Club to identify and develop the next generation of leaders in the Des Moines Metro area.
Rita has also developed a strong interest in gardening that led her to become certified as a Master Gardener and a member of the American Garden Writers Association. She specializes in creating calming outdoor spaces that encourage mindfulness and personal reflection.
