Steve Sink is the founder and managing partner of Phoenix Affiliates Ltd., a business brokerage firm with five business brokers. For the past 10 years Phoenix Affiliates has successfully represented hundreds of buyers and sellers in the sale or acquisition and purchase of businesses both nationally and internationally.
Buyers and sellers use his services for the following reasons:
- Confidentiality. Protecting the confidentiality of the transaction is the main concern of all parties.
- Managing the sale. It is almost impossible to simultaneously run a business while trying to sell it.
- Financing. Securing financing for a business transaction can be a major challenge. Negotiations. Sellers and buyers will need to work together after the sale. Using a third party keeps the process moving forward.
- Preparation. Lack of preparation to sell increases the time needed to close the sale. This is the No. 1 reason for the failure of a sale.
Steve is a Certified Business Intermediary (one of 629 in the world) and recently qualified as a Master Merger and Acquisition Intermediary (one of 72 in the world). He is a member of the International Business Brokers Association and its M&A Source division and serves as a member of the Marketing Committee. Steve’s focus is mainly with clients in the Midwest.
After graduating from Michigan State University, Steve worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co., then left to become a vice president of merchandising for a national retailer and moved on to vice president of marketing and business development for a retail conglomerate. He was also the CEO for the first chain of office product superstores and has bought and sold businesses for corporations and himself.
Steve is married and lives in Pella. He is an active member in the local Kiwanis organization, and has also provided pro bono consulting. Steve enjoys working out and fishing.
