Present Position: Victor Aspengren has been heavily involved in ownership transition for over a decade. As part of Prairie Capital Advisors’ Cedar Rapids office, Mr. Aspengren provides Midwest and nationwide business owner clients the expertise needed for their ownership transition planning and implementation needs. As former CEO and HR Manager at ESOP-owned companies, he has lived the ownership transition experience.
Currently, Mr. Aspengren is the chair of the board of directors of the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO). Victor is a member of the National ESOP Association and has served as a former board of director’s member, former member of the board of governors, former chair of the Ownership Culture Committee and is a current member of the committee. He is also a past officer of the IA/NE ESOP Association Chapter. He is a regular presenter at both organizations’ annual and regional meetings.
Professional Experience: Prior to joining Prairie Capital Advisors, Mr. Aspengren was a Director at Verisight, Inc (formerly the employee benefits practice at RSM McGladry, Inc.). There, he used his past experiences as a Dale Carnegie Instructor, Great Game of Business Coach, and a Creativity Central trainer to engage owners in a business succession dialogue. The dialogue included, but was not limited to, strategy, governance, leadership succession, executive compensation, ESOPs, and organizational development.
Education: Mr. Aspengren holds a Master of Public Administration from Drake University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Iowa State University.
